For Families

Families receive the Family and Student Handbook at admission and an updated copy each year. It explains services, student rights, behavior supports, attendance, fees, school contacts, and complaint options. Call 434-589-2370 to request the current handbook, an accessible format, interpretation, or help understanding a policy. The 2026–2027 calendar is available below. School communications provide updates when schedules change.

We welcome questions, concerns, and successes. Families help us support students by participating in meetings, reviewing and returning daily point sheets, responding to school communications, and keeping contact information current. Contact the office to report an absence or arrange a conversation with your child’s teacher or therapist. For family therapy appointments and reminders, use the SimplePractice Client Portal or contact your therapist.

Students deserve dignity, equitable treatment, and instruction and services that follow their individual plans. Community, Integrity, and Resilience guide how we teach coping, communication, problem-solving, and accountability. Bullying, harassment, hazing, and retaliation are prohibited. You may report a concern to any staff member or directly to the Executive Director. The handbook does not replace a student’s IEP, required consent, or legal rights.

Use the office’s approved secure process for IEPs, evaluations, health information, and therapy documents. Please do not send those records through a general website inquiry. Access to student records is limited to authorized people with a legitimate need or as otherwise permitted by law. Parents and eligible students may request access to records, explanations, or corrections through the office. Questions about privacy or website accessibility are welcome at 434-589-2370.
